DISCOVER

Since 1957 in the vineyards, together.

Cantina Montelliana e dei colli Asolani
In the heart of the Marca Trevigiana, at the foot of Colli Asolani and Montello district, stands Cantina Montelliana, a cooperative of 400 associated vine growers that produces Prosecco DOC, DOCG, and other wines of high organoleptic value.

Territory

Identity, typicality, strong bond with the territory.

A territory rich in tradition, capable of giving rise to wines with a unique and unmistakable flavor. The wines of the estate owe their character entirely to these lands.

Asolo Prosecco DOCG
The area of the Asolo Hills, located in the territory of Alta Marca Trevigiana, is known for being rich in history, tradition, art, and excellent wines. Here, the vines have been cultivated for centuries and the production of wine is among the most renowned in the world. From the combination of tradition and innovation and the favourable balance between climate and soil type, typical of this territory, we create wines with unique and unequalled organoleptic characteristics.

The wines produced in this area have been DOC Montello and Colli Asolani since 1977, followed by the DOCG recognition for Asolo Prosecco Superiore (June 2009) and for Montello Rosso (October 2011).

At the top of the most important national and international competitions, these wines are obtaining a wide audience in many European and extra-European countries, also thanks to those typical characteristics of identity and strong link with their origin that have remained intact over time.

Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG
Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG is obtained from Glera grapes cultivated in the hilly area of the 19 municipalities of the Montello and Colli Asolani districts. In the organoleptic analysis, the wine shows to be elegant, light, with a fresh, fruity, and floral aroma. Depending on the soil of origin of the grapes, it can have hints of citrus (lemon and citron), honey, ripe apple, and white flowers.

It is a wine of great aromatic constancy and its acidity is perfectly harmonized with its sapidity, indicating a strong relationship between the product and the place of origin, resulting from a perfect pedoclimatic condition, one of its kind.

The smooth taste, the delicate body, its velvety and creamy bubbles, full of liveliness, make it a very pleasant wine with excellent drinkability.

Treviso Prosecco DOC
Since 2009, Prosecco can boast the Controlled Designation of Origin (DOC) label, which guarantees the quality of the most famous Italian sparkling wine in the world. Prosecco DOC is the main denomination, which can be accompanied by the special mention of Treviso and Trieste if the harvest of grapes, vinification, and bottling takes place completely within these two provinces. DOC means that the Prosecco is a wine produced according to a procedural guideline, in a specific geographical area dedicated to the production of this wine and characterized by specific environmental conditions.

Prosecco DOC is produced mainly with Glera grapes, an autochthonous grape variety from northern Italy, known since Roman times. The Glera variety produces big and long bunches with yellow-golden berries, and has hazelnut-coloured shoots. Its cultivation involves the use of agricultural practices such as the vertical orientation of the sprouts, the elimination of the ones in excess, ending with shoot topping and tying interventions to obtain the ideal microclimate for the accumulation of aromatic substances on the berry. Together with Glera grapes, other grape varieties may be used, up to a maximum of 15% (complementarily, and only if they are cultivated within the DOC area): Verdiso, Bianchetta Trevigiana, Perera, Glera lunga, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Nero, vinified in white.

Treviso Prosecco Superiore DOC
The Prosecco DOC Treviso wine is the symbol of simple, yet refined drinking. It’s a classic to be enjoyed with friends and family. With its floral and fruity aroma and its fresh, light, and lively flavour, it is the perfect wine for every celebration.

THE CREATION

Founded in 1957 at the foot of the Montello hills and the Colli Asolani, Cantina Montelliana was born from the vision of a group of dedicated winegrowers who believed in strength through unity. What started as a small cooperative has grown into a community of more than 400 families, each one cultivating vineyards with care, passion, and respect for the land.

The creation of Montelliana is deeply tied to its terroir. The rolling hills of the Marca Trevigiana, with their unique soils and temperate climate, provide the perfect conditions for cultivating Glera and other native grape varieties. Every harvest reflects not only the richness of the territory, but also the shared knowledge and commitment passed down through generations.

From vineyard to cellar, the cooperative model ensures that tradition is preserved while embracing modern techniques. This balance of heritage and innovation allows Montelliana to craft Prosecco DOC, Asolo Prosecco DOCG, and a wide range of wines that capture both elegance and authenticity. Each bottle is more than a drink: it is the expression of a collective identity, a bond between nature and people, and a testament to the enduring values of cooperation, quality, and pride in origin.

the ingredients

At the heart of Cantina Montelliana lies a profound respect for terroir and tradition. Every bottle reflects the richness of the Marca Trevigiana landscape, where soil, climate, and human passion work together in harmony. These are the essential elements that shape the character and authenticity of Montelliana’s creations.

  • Glera grapes — the foundation of Prosecco, offering freshness, delicate aromas, and vibrant acidity.
  • Native varieties of the Marca Trevigiana — including Verdiso, Perera, Bianchetta Trevigiana, and others that bring depth and local identity.
  • Soils of Montello and Colli Asolani — mineral-rich, varied terrains that impart complexity and structure to the wines.
  • Mild climate of the Veneto hills — with balanced rainfall and sun exposure that nurture healthy, flavorful grapes.
  • Generational craftsmanship — the collective expertise of more than 400 families, whose care in cultivation and harvest ensures consistent quality and authenticity.

Sustainability

Proud to be Sustainable viticulture

In 2018, Cantina Montelliana started the creation of an experimental vineyard of about 4 hectares, with two PIWI varieties, Souvignier Gris and Bronner, selected for their resistance to diseases and for the high quality of the obtained wines.

The Piwi (from German Pilzwiderstandfähig) are varieties native of Northern Europe that over the years have been crossed and selected to resist the most feared fungi by winemakers: powdery mildew and Peronospora. The cultivation of these new varieties will significantly reduce the number of phytosanitary treatments (which, if deemed necessary, will be exclusively organic) and, consequently, minimize the impact of this project on the surrounding environment. While awaiting the results of this experimentation, we proposed to our partners a new protocol aimed at limiting the number of treatments in the vineyard and at reducing the use of chemicals. The unanimous approval determined the beginning of a progressive transition towards a more sustainable cultivation of the grapes.

Always with the aim of respecting the environment, Cantina Montelliana is leading the PV-sensing project, which involves the experimentation of a system that, through innovative electronic sensors, will constantly detect climatic and environmental parameters in the vineyard in order to be able to predict and therefore prevent the ‘Peronospora of the vine’.

Moreover, for years, the company has been using the 200 kw of electricity generated by its photovoltaic system, with the aim of reducing the environmental impact of the production process.
