PAPA HEMINGWAY
Rum was served aboard warships, rationed to civilization-changing explorers and sustained the Founding Fathers as they plotted revolution. It also inspired one of the world’s greatest adventurers, Papa Hemingway.
It was consumed by men who understood you only get one shot at life. Hemingway was this kind of man. He lived his life in a state of perpetual motion, traversing the globe collecting tales each more epic than the last – and rum bore witness to it all.
Hemingway was an author, a freethinker, an adventurer, a conservationist, adn a bon vivant. The one thing he was not was a spectator.
He had many passions, but his one true constant was his beloved boat, Pilar.
She was the esteemed vessel that allowed America’s literary giant to reach beyond the shoreline and feast on life.
THE CREATION
Papa’s Pilar Rum starts with an exceptional blend of premium rums sourced from some of the world’s most celebrated rum-making regions, including Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Venezuela, and Florida. Each component is selected for its quality, character, and ability to deliver a truly standout flavor experience.
Using a traditional solera blending system, these rums are layered together to create remarkable depth and smoothness. This careful craft ensures every bottle of Papa’s Pilar delivers consistent richness, balance, and the kind of refined taste rum enthusiasts look for.
The blend is then finished in bourbon barrels, port wine casks, and Spanish Oloroso sherry barrels—each adding its own signature notes. The result is a bold, multi-layered rum with hints of vanilla, warm spice, cocoa, and oak.
