Description
Gyokuro is a dark green tea from Japan characterized by its sweetness and complexity. This character is clearly reflected in the whisky, especially the complexity, as this is a dynamic spirit that evolves with every second in the glass. A whisky defined by vegetal notes reminiscent of freshly cut grass, green leaves, and seaweed. Sweet in aroma and a distinctly tea-like undertone in the finish.
Recipe
Mackmyra’s tea infusions are unique. We have allowed various green teas (sourced through Yuko Ono in Stockholm) to macerate in Oloroso, which after straining has been used to season casks. The matured whisky dates back to 2013, and the tea cask finishing lasted for two years and nine months. All releases in this trilogy are single tea casks where each tea character is distinctly reflected in the widely diverse flavor profiles of each expression. Gyokuro and Shinobi are balanced with 10% ex-Bourbon casks.
