From the outset Mackmyra was fully focused on creating a whisky which was quintessentially Swedish. The journey began with local barley, spring water and Swedish oak. Even the smoky recipe has a Swedish signature and is malted and smoked by hand using locally cut peat together with juniper twigs. A short distance from the distillery, the whisky is then aged in a unique location; the old Bodås Mine, 50 metres underground.

Today, Mackmyra produces whisky with the same curiosity and experimental zeal as in 1999, but now in the ground-breaking Gravity Distillery, which harnesses the force of gravity to aid production and is designed to substantially reduce the carbon footprint. Guided by the historical knowledge of whisky production, Mackmyra employs its own methods to create innovative products using Swedish ingredients.
Gravity distillation
There are three ingredients in whisky: barley, water and yeast. The barley used comes from Swedish farms and always with the shortest and most environmentally-friendly methods of transport as possible. The water used in the distillery is of medium-hardness and comes from the river that runs through the estate. It is filtered for the dilution of the new-make spirit only with UV-light.

The flagship Swedish whisky created using 100% Swedish ingredients. Casks coopered from Swedish oak create a more firm and spicy flavour.

Nose: Fruity with citrus, pear, apple and honey. A light oakiness with sweet, lightly toasted bread notes and fresh butter toffee.

In Sweden for many generations, they use juniper to spice up their food.

Limousin
Limousin (Seasonal)
Inspired by the famous French oak region, Limousin is a Swedish single malt whiskey that combines the classic elegant Swedish whiskey character with a deliciously rich wine.
The local flavors are essential for this whiskey and are highlighted by the use of the French barrel Limousin Oak which previously contained brandy from the famous Cognac House Ferrand.
To accentuate the fruity aroma, older Oloroso barrels were added to the recipe, as well as barrels saturated with berry wine (Swedish cherry wine and forest raspberry wine) to add complexity and a touch of freshness.
Limousin goes perfectly with cold cuts or a dark chocolate sugar paste with caramelized orange.

Stjärnrök
Mackmyra Stjärnrök (meaning stardust) is a Swedish single malt whiskey created for the coldest and darkest months of the year.
For this version, the handmade smoked Rök recipe begins, which then matures into Oloroso barrels, ex Bourbon and American oak casks, where aging Cloudberry wine, for body, complexity and sweetness.
Stjärnrök goes perfectly with a winter cold cut, with ripe figs, walnuts and strong tasty, hard cheeses.

Mackmyra Vinterglöd (meaning winter glow) is an elegant Swedish single malt whisky distilled at Mackmyra Bruk. This whisky is inspired by the Swedish winter tradition of drinking mulled wine during the colder months of the year.
The aromatic profile of the whisky comes from its aging in barrels that previously contained Swedish mulled wine and Pedro Ximénez Sherry.

Moment Efva is an elegant single malt whiskey that came from a creative collaboration with jewelry designer, Efva Attling.
A request for more intense sweetness resulted in the use of a cask in which previously, held cherry wine.
The version is decorated with polished silver cork, designed by Efva.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Fruity, vinous notes and a herbal spiciness together with vanilla, toasted oak, pear, fudge, warm grapes, white pepper, anise, ginger and cardamom.

Mackmyra Vintersol (Winter Sun) is a Swedish single malt whisky created in collaboration with the Port wine producer Quinta Do Vallado, one of the oldest and most famous Quintas in the Douro Valley.
The Swedish winter sun rarely visits as often as we like it to, and so we wanted the flavour of sun soaked grapes to keep this whisky company.
The aromatic profile of the whisky comes from finishing in casks that previously held port wine with notes of vanilla, chocolate and pepper.
The resulting whisky is elegant With a light spiciness and notes of warm raisins, sun ripe fruits, tropical berries, buttery pear fudge, vanilla and toasted oak.
